I first just want to disclose that I am not an accountant and I’m not a CPA and you definitely need to talk with these people before you short sell your property.
We really recommend that you talk to an attorney and a CPA. If they give you the blessing to short sell your property, then we will take that on. The reason why we can’t really give a lot of tax advice when it comes to short selling your property is really the same reason if you went to your account today and asked them what your home is worth, they would refer you to us to give you that information because that’s what our profession is.
When it comes to the tax consequences, really what we are going to do is we are going to refer you out to some certified CPAs or accountants that you can talk to and see if a short sale is best for you in your situation. If you talk to them and they tell you that they think you should short sell your property or if you are still comfortable short selling your property, you can reach out to us.
